Lemon essential oil is extracted from the fresh lemon peel. Lemon essential oil, like all citrus oils, are photo-toxic. This means that they can cause sunburn when exposed to sunlight, therefore avoid using this oil in day creams etc.
A common use of this essential oil is to tone, even and clarify skin complexion and hyperpigmentation. Dilute this essential oil in a carrier oil, and apply this blend as a massage oil, or add a few drops to your night cream. This essential oil is also commonly used in household cleaning products for it's fresh fragrance.
In cold-process soap-making, the fragrance of this essential oil fades significantly.
Directions for Use:
Essential oils are highly concentrated, and improper use is dangerous. Always dilute essential oils in an oil-soluble base before use. You cannot dilute essential oils in water, glycerine or alcohol. You may dilute essential oils in carrier oils and liquid soap. Maximum dilution: 0.5%. Never ingest essential oils without consulting a qualified medical doctor. Always store essential oils in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.
