Clear Root Fire comes from “The Golden Mirror of Medicine” written by Wu Qian of the Qing Dynasty in China. This book was completed in 1742 AD and the title was given by the Chinese emperor Qianlong. The prescription is based on the nourishing Kidney-Yin foundation formulation Nourish Root Yin and added Rhizoma Anemarrhenae and Cortex Phellodendri Chinensis. The effect of this formula is to replenish Kidney and Yin, balance Yin and Yang through Nourish Root Yin, and also to prevent the source of Deficiency Fire with the help of Rhizoma Anemarrhenae and Cortex Phellodendri Chinensis, which clear Heat, Dampness and treat Heat symptoms.
It can effectively be used to treat hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). It is also an important formulation for treating Deficiency of Fire and Damp-Heat in the pelvis and lower limbs, such as circulation disorders, menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats, vaginal itching, recurrent cystitis, itching of the perineum, leucorrhea. It does help with the treatment of impotence and low libido in Damp-Heat Patterns and is also effective for the after-treatment of shingles when burning or pain is still there.
